Errand into the Wilderness

Our secondary reading this week, something we’ll touch on only a little bit, is Perry Miller’s opening chapter to his Errand into the Wilderness.  Miller is one of the most influential historians and literary critics of early America and Puritan New England, and his interpretation of American identity as being formed according to a topological fulfillment of the Old Testament is extremely influential.
